Happy Mother’s Day and Happy Sunday!
In honor of Mother’s Day, I wanted to share a few stories or highlights about my mom. Here are some random stories and advice she’s shared with me.
- Be friends with boys because they’re non-judge mental but have a few close girlfriends.
- You get 5 minutes a day to feel sorry for yourself and then it’s time to move on.
- If someone I’d mean or rude to you, just smile and think to yourself, “fuck off!” (She said it!)
- Ladies should excuse themselves to fart.
- Always be kind to people.
- Making cookies is therapy and giving cookies to people brightens their day. (She the line above).
- Don’t let people take advantage of your kindness.
- Chips and dip cure a bad day.
- Send mail.
- Save room for dessert.
- Nothing beats a Coke – especially around Christmas.
- Christmas is important – honor the tradition.
- Read. Read all of the books.
- Go for walks – that’s important – especially when you g wet older.
- Canning is the best way to capture the taste of summer.
- Try the recipe – it’s fun to experiment.
- Always have cookies in the freezer. Always.
- Always end the call with “I love you” because you don’t know when it’ll be the last.
- Wear clean underwear- this is especially important if you’re in a car accident.
- Don’t forget to take a break.
- Don’t give yourself to your work. You’re easily replaceable.
- Being a pervert is hilarious- especially when you’re older!
- Go golfing even if you suck.
- Alone time is critical to your sanity.
- There’s nothing wrong with eating cherry pie filling out of the can.
- JFK was the best president – be inspired by the class.
- Love endlessly, deeply, and with conviction.
There’s a lot more to this list, but we’ll save that for another time.
