Sunday Musings 030622

As we edge closer to spring, I am reminded of something inevitable: change. There are subtle changes that we aren’t immediately apparent and big changes, that change the course of our lives.

Change is scary – especially when you’re forced to evaluate the implications it may have. That’s why so many people get uncomfortable with change. You’re comfortable or you’re okay or it’s steady. Routine. Like Ted Lasso said, “If you’re comfortable while you’re doing it, you’re probably doing it wrong.”

This year feels like a big year for changes. We’ve slowly come out of a traumatic few years with Covid and there’s a lot of anger and a war raging. I have friends getting married and friends moving away. Everyday a new wish into the universe.

Personally speaking, this has been a strange year. I’m now a wife. Let me tell you, marriage does change everything. It’s subtle – but it’s there. You’re now in a real, legal partnership. Something changes inside that, at least for me, makes me feel like I’m an adult. That’s not the right word – it’s a feeling that I don’t know I’m suited to put a word on. But trust me, it’s a good thing. I love being a wife.

On the other side of that, there’s the backlash from our wedding. I can count on one hand the number of people from my family that congratulated us. This change has begrudgingly come in the form of acceptance. Not to sound petty or shitty – but I’m okay with cutting the toxic and just sending light and love to those who do not wish me the same.

This year feels like it will be bringing big changes. Big blessings. It’s windy here so all I can think to say is that change is blowing in. I think there’s a quote or something about that? Regardless, I think it’s going to be big and scary – but necessary.

We all feel stuck sometimes. Like we’ve been getting swallowed by quicksand. That’s when we’re desperate for change. Let me tell you something I’ve observed in life – things have a way of finding you when you’re not looking. The universe knows what you need. I guess you could put a different label on it – if that works better for you.

But – when you’re in the quicksand and desperately seeking change – use this as an opportunity to start making small changes and creating new healthy habits. It helps to have something you can control.

Other Musings

That was a lot of philosophy that you may or may not find helpful. Here’s some other fun stuff that I’ve had on my mind. You may or may not find it interesting.

Space junk hit the moon on Friday. This feels like it should be huge news and it feels bad. Read about it here.

Ted Lasso is quite possibly the best show I’ve ever seen. Note: I do have a huge crush on Jason Sudeikis and this reinforces my attraction the the dad bod.

If you aren’t reading Joy the Baker – you’re missing out. Her writing is incredible and so are her recipes. Read her blog here.

St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner and I’ve got you covered with cupcakes. Find the recipe here.

I hope this Sunday is beautiful for you and leads you into beautiful little changes.

Xo love kim

  1. There is definitely something in the air lately. Thank you for reminding me that from controversy comes change and that’s usually a good thing!
