In the thick of winter, I know I’m not alone when I say that I dream about summer months. The bitter cold outside makes me want barbecues and hot dogs and sangria and ice cream and s’mores. Oh my!
While I can always make hot dogs inside and no one has ever said no to winter sangria… but s’mores can be tricky. Sure I can make them in the oven or microwave – but it’s not the same. With the Super Bowl coming up – I wanted a handheld treat and I knew it had to be s’mores.
Queue my mom. My mom is the queen of making homemade marshmallows for hot cocoa each winter and she send me a ton of homemade marshmallows. And each year I drink way too much hot cocoa.
Now that I’ve painted the picture of how we’ve gotten here – let’s get into how to make these s’more footballs. Also – making them footballs is completely optional.
Ingredients
- Marshmallows (homemade or store bought)
- Graham crackers
- Chocolate (I used 1 12 oz package chocolate chips I had)
- 1 Tbs Coconut oil
- White chocolate melted for the laces (optional)
Equipment
- Parchment paper
- Microwave safe bowl
Directions
Start by melting you chips. You’ll want to do this in 30 second intervals as to not scorch the chocolate. Once melted – stir in coconut oil. This will help it harden.

If using homemade marshmallows – cut your marshmallow block to fit the size of your graham crackers. If using store bought I would recommend using 2-3 marshmallows per block. You’ll want to use chocolate inside to help the marshmallows stick.

Sandwich two grahams around the marshmallows and dip in chocolate. Coat completely and place on parchment.

Once solid – use melted white chocolate to make football laces. This step is completely optional.

Happy baking!
