Galentine’s Day Brunch

It’s February, which means that love is in the air. Not only romantic love but the love of friends.

So what is Galentine’s Day?

Sparked from the T.V. show Parks and Rec – Galentine’s Day was invented to celebrate and empower the women in your life. Leslie Knope is an icon and someone that I try to model my life after. Better yet, it’s celebrated over brunch. The only meal that matters.

Invitation

As you’ve probably read in previous posts, I take invitations very seriously. After deciding my guest list, I made these adorable invitations and added pops of color the invitations via Sharpie and my new favorite crafting material: embossing powder. The embossing powder adds an elegant 3D effect and bonus: it’s super easy. Check out this tutorial.

Menu

Now that my guests have RSVP’d – I’m ready to start planning the menu. If you’ve ever thrown brunch or searched on Pinterest, you know that brunch can easily go from easy to overly complicated. How do you incorporate lunch and breakfast? What are the must haves? Check out this easy infographic to help you with brunch.

Finally – I landed on my menu. Here’s what we had:

  • Quiche (frozen from Target)
  • Bacon
  • Salad with feta, walnuts, and strawberries
  • Fresh fruit
  • Mini pancakes
  • Croissants with chicken salad
  • Caprese tea-sandwich
  • Macarons
  • Valentine’s Day candy (a lot of it)
  • Tater tots
  • Cinnamon rolls

For drinks:

  • Coffee
  • Hot cocoa
  • Juice boxes (for the kids)
  • Mimosas

The menu was a huge hit. While it seems like a lot of food, I hosted 12 people and it was the perfect amount. I bought the food at Aldi, Trader Joes, and Target.

Décor

The decorations were so fun and simple. A majority of the decor came from Target and various craft stores. Target has some super cute banners, napkins, and other festive decor that will help glam up your party.

Also – some may think it’s a faux-pas to have plastic cups champagne flutes, but I’ve broken all our glass flutes and Target has super cute and affordable cups!

Our sign even came from Target!

Party Favors

I take party favors very seriously. I think that every party should have them. Why? Because it helps your guest remember the fun time they had. For this party – my party favors included:

Closing

The most important thing about Galentine’s Day is embracing all the strong, beautiful, and inspiring women in your life. At the end of the day – if you forget to do something, no one will know. The key is to be present and celebrate womanhood.
